Eating Out : The Lot area is well-known for duck prepared in its various forms, succulent Quercy lamb, Quercy melon, cabécou and other cheeses, truffles and walnuts. You will find a wide selection of these and other local produce in the local markets. Information on restaurants, bistros and cafes can be found in local tourists offices and your hosts Michele and Eddie will be happy to point you to some which they would recommend. You will, of course, also want to try your hand at cooking some of the local dishes in the well-equipped kitchen in the gite.
Cahors wine : The well-known Cahors wines are grown in the Lot river valley, stretching from Cahors due west towards Fumel in the Lot and Garonne. Catus is just 10 minutes drive to the very scenic wine route along the meandering Lot river and makes a pleasant day out. Many of the vineyard cellars of the chateaux and domaines around the Lot valley are open for tasting visits.
Tourist brochures, maps and walking routes are available in the gite. Your hosts Eddie and Michele will be happy to help you with more information.
